Cats TakeAway Testing

Free and convenient COVID-19 PCR testing for all students, employees and DCCs.

Pick up a test kit from a TakeAway Testing location, scan it into the testing system using your smartphone, and drop it off at a TakeAway Testing location once you’ve collected your sample.

How does TakeAway Testing work?

Before you start:

Remember: Do not eat, drink, use mouthwash, brush your teeth, chew gum, smoke, or vape for 30 minutes before your saline gargle test.

Register for University Testing. Visit your Wildcat OneStop to view your registration status. If there is a red X next to PCR (saline gargle), click the “Register for a test” button and follow the prompts. Once registered, a green check mark will replace the red X on your Wildcat OneStop.

Find an appropriate place to collect your sample. Your office, dorm room, home, personal vehicle, or outside (physically distanced from others) are good choices. Do not collect your sample near the drop-off location.

STEP 3

COLLECT YOUR SAMPLE

1. Twist the top off the saline packet like you're turning a key. Squeeze all of the saline into your mouth. Do not swallow the saline.

2. Perform this swish & gargle cycle 3 times:

  • Swish the saline around your mouth for 5 seconds
  • Tilt your head back and gargle for 10 seconds.

3. After 3 cycles (45 seconds) of swishing and gargling, spit all of the saline into the funnel.

4. Slowly unscrew the funnel, allowing the saline to flow into the tube. Fill the tube between the minimum and maximum lines printed on the label. Do not go over the maximum line.

  • If you did not fill the tube to the minimum line or above, spit additional saliva into the tube.
  • If you filled the tube over the maximum line, pour out the excess into a sink or garbage can.

5. Discard the funnel and empty saline packet, and screw the cap securely on the tube.

6. Put the capped tube back in the provided bag, and ensure the bag is sealed securely.
